Spring racing attendees were welcomed into the Penfolds’ Flemington marquee by a lush and vivid scene that celebrated the much-loved vineyard’s Australian history.

A stunning mural of Barossa Valley, ‘Kalimina’, painted by Australian artist Sarah Hendy, covered the width of the 15m marquee, greeting guests on arrival.

Playing with depth, shape and colour, the centrepiece bar – an 8m long, black metal and timber veneer structure, finished with a brass benchtop – was positioned beneath a lowered ceiling. The back wall of the marquee brought Penfolds’ bin numbers to life, backlit by exposed Edison globes.

Luxurious floral arrangements, created by Cecilia Fox, referenced the South Australian landscape.  Australian natives were combined with red roses and displayed in custom-made clay vessels throughout the space.  Inspired by the colours of the Barossa Valley, banquettes and side chairs offered guests a space to relax amidst a landscape of dusky pinks, sage greens and blood reds.
